“Many of us may think of book reading as something we do for fun, or leisure, or for required reading. But we also need to realize that books are lifelines, particularly for young people searching for answers,” said SC&I Teaching Professor Nancy Kranich.
If you are a SC&I undergraduate major or master's student with a 2024 degree - whether January, May, or August - this is the ceremony where your name will be called and you will walk across the stage and be congratulated individually. Doctoral candidates with August 2023, January and May 2024, graduation dates are eligible.

President Jonathan Holloway's 2023 Byrne Seminar for first-year students is designed to heighten understanding of the roles and responsibilities of citizenship and will feature conversations with distinguished leaders on critical questions related to citizenship.

The event will focus on “Interprofessional Education & Communication in Health Care: Experiences and Challenges in the U.S. and Greece,” and will take place in two parts from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. ET on Monday, November 20, 2023.
Smartphones and other mobile devices have become an integral part of modern daily lives, leading researchers to examine their impact on the quality of face-to-face interactions. This talk will focus on the multifaceted practices surrounding smartphones (such as photo-taking, digital content sharing, texting, etc.), and the way the nature of smartphone use is negotiated by co-present participants themselves.
