Strategic Digital Asset Management (DAM) Operations Silver Certificate

The Strategic Digital Asset Management (DAM) Operations Silver Certificate is a 12-week certificate program designed to provide you with the proper understanding and management of the distinct types of assets that are crucial to DAM success.

The curriculum covers video asset management, the capture and management of Rights and Permissions data, and technical DAM knowledge in areas including connected metadata, relational models, master data management (MDM) and more.

By completing this certificate, you’ll expand your knowledge of and proficiency in digital asset management, ready to manage your DAM needs effectively.

This silver certificate is designed for professionals who have current professional fluency in DAM operations and a minimum of three years’ experience working in DAM or its immediate adjacencies or has completed the Digital Asset Management Bronze Certificate.

The Strategic Digital Asset Management (DAM) Operations Silver Certificate is designed for those with current professional fluency in DAM operations and a minimum of three years' experience working in DAM or its immediate adjacencies or who have earned the Rutgers Digital Asset Management Bronze Certificate.

• Digital Asset Managers, DAM Coordinators, Media Handlers, Corporate Librarians and all staff involved with creating, managing, and using digital assets in everyday work, or for long-term archiving and preservation
• Creative staff, internal and external agency professionals, and trade partners who need ready and secure access to the correct assets when they need them, and in the format(s) required
• Archivists, Librarians, and Corporate Records Managers with responsibility for the long-term archiving, reference, and preservation that digital assets represent directly
• Rights and Permissions administrators, the Office of General Counsel, and the Artificial Intelligence (AI) or allied content ethics officers with DAM directing or supporting critical workflows for numerous usage dimensions and challenges in today’s content supply chain

In Managing Video Assets for DAM and NAM, you’ll examine how your role as a digital asset manager is impacted by each step of the video production process, from how video is created to the vast amount of descriptive, administrative, and legal metadata that is required to be generated and tracked to ultimately be able to distribute and reuse the video content. In Rights for Digital Asset Management (DAM), you’ll strengthen your legal literacy and develop a foundational understanding of rights management concepts from all sectors and gain insights that build on other DAM-related topics such as metadata, data governance, and integrations that power successful DAM implementations. You’ll Elevate Your DAM Game by learning how to build smart, interconnected digital content ecosystems.

• Learn why video is more complicated to manage than other traditional image assets.
• Cultivate expertise in going from ideation to production to distribution and on to archiving. Understand how the video content production pipeline impacts the digital asset manager.
• Develop proficiency in the basic and advanced rights considerations that you need to consider for your DAM and explore whether rights extend to metadata.
• Examine how well you are managing risks and compliance and how effectively you collaborate with your legal colleagues.
• Explore the differences between relational databases and well-designed database schemas and how they are foundational to DAM success.
• Familiarize yourself with master data management, how it differs from DAM, and whether there is a tie-in to the semantic web.
