Xiaotong (Xiao/shiau/) Du is a Ph.D. candidate who studies human information behaviors and human-computer interaction in everyday and crisis contexts. Her work aims to foster environmental sustainability, community resilience, and digital equity, with a particular interest in everyday food practices. Du’s research employs qualitative methods, visual research methodologies, and constructivist grounded theory to inform product design, informal education, and theory development in library and information science. She also serves as a Teaching Assistant Project Program Coordinator, working to enhance teaching and learning in higher education.

Research

Du’s research aims to explore how people interact with information and information technologies to transition towards sustainable food consumption practices, secure food access during food insecurity crisis, and bridge the digital divide.
