Jindani

Arpita Jindani is a doctoral candidate who possesses a strong health communication and public health background that enables her to draw unique insights in her research. She currently works at the Rutgers Global Health Institute and leads the development of health equity programs. Previously, she worked for Rutgers’ Global Tuberculosis Institute, where she developed educational programs on tuberculosis for health professionals in the northeastern United States and the Pacific Islands. In an earlier role at the Partnership for Maternal Child Health, she led a successful immunization program that resulted in long-term immunization initiatives across New Jersey.

Jindani’s research on community resilience draws on existing community resilience literature and utilizes a community-based intervention as a case study to advance a communication-centered model of community resilience. Simultaneously, she is also exploring the role of communication among small, minority-owned businesses in urban communities in New Jersey and how they navigated the challenges that emerged from the public health crisis of COVID-19. Broadly, Jindani’s public health efforts and her research are focused on meaningfully engaging with global and local communities to address health inequity. Her research methodology includes the integration of qualitative and computational methods.
