Many of SC&I’s faculty and students will soon be headed west to attend the 67th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association (ICA). The conference, themed “Interventions: Communication Research and Practice” will be held in San Diego from May 25–29.

In addition to presenting, SC&I faculty will have the opportunity to introduce new faculty members joining SC&I this fall. New faculty members are, Professor Amy Jordan, Associate Professor Chenjerai Kumanyika, Associate Professor Matthew Matsaganis, Distinguished Professor of Professional Practice Clifton Lacy, and Assistant Professor Caitlin Petre. Many conference attendees will also be able to meet Dean and Distinguished Professor Jonathan Potter and Associate Dean for Programs and Professor Dafna Lemish for the first time.

According to the ICA, this year’s conference will include a few new and exciting updates, including the launch of ICAPlay, a mobile game app designed to encourage networking, the Making and Doing Exhibit at the reception, the Propoganda exhibit, child care services, and free hatha yoga in the mornings. As in years past, ICA will also hold a poster contest.

According to the ICA website, ICA is an academic association for scholars interested in the study, teaching, and application of all aspects of human and mediated communication. ICA began more than 50 years ago as a small association of U.S. researchers and is now a truly international association with more than 4,500 members in 80 countries. Since 2003, ICA has been officially associated with the United Nations as a non-governmental association (NGO).
