The Journalism and Media Studies Department presents the fall 2024 issue of Kairos online magazine.
This issue features reporting on the election issues students care most about — plus stories from projects in Spain, Italy, Monaco, Nigeria, Egypt, and, of course, New Jersey.
Among these stories:
Ruby Hoffman reported on how Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democrats are handling the issue of gender.
Natalie Civadelic asked men for their opinions about the abortion debate.
JoAna Henigantried to ascertain whether celebrity endorsements have the power to sway the vote, and Juan Teira reported on whether higher tax credits for child care — a policy supported by both Democrats and Republicans — would be likely to meaningfully help struggling families meaningfully.
These stories were selected and edited with the help of the JMS faculty editorial board of David Love, Regina Marchi, and Alyse Shorland; contributions came from students of Mary D’Ambrosio, Steve Miller, and PTL Dave Winter,
Kairos is published twice yearly. Each issue explores a theme chosen by the editorial board and also features the best writing, photography, video storytelling, data-driven journalism, and analysis generated by Journalism and Media Studies classes. Feedback is welcome, and so are your submissions.
