Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities, had its annual new member induction ceremony at Rutgers on Sunday, April 21, inducting 40 new members.
The event was organized by four student leaders: Alexandrea Manalo, President; Alexis Carlos, Vice President; Ish Chammeli, Treasurer; and Adeel Yaqoob, Secretary. Assistant Professor of Communication DaJung "DJ" Woo, the honor society’s faculty advisor since 2021, addressed the inductees and introduced the student officers.
“It was wonderful to celebrate the academic achievements of the Lambda Pi Eta members and hear about their exciting professional aspirations. The dedication and hard work of the student leaders in organizing the event was commendable,” said Woo.
In an inspiring speech, guest speaker Assistant Professor of Professional Practice, Communication Mark Beal motivated inductees to dream big and follow their passion as they navigate their career journey.

The society accepts new member applications every semester and applicants must be a Communication major, have completed at least 60 degree credits, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a Communication GPA of 3.25 or higher.
