The spring 2024 edition of Kairos, the JMS magazine of top undergraduate work is out today!
This issue, “The Way We Live Now,” explores post-pandemic trends, such as the impacts of AI on campus, changes in workplace fashion, and why so many college students are avoiding romantic relationships.
Ph.D. candidate Marisa Holmes’ students evaluated an expanding LGBTQ+ healthcare initiative at Robert Wood Johnson University hospital; Neal Bennett’s Digital Media Production students contributed three standout video stories, about a Muslim women’s leadership symposium; librarians’ response to banned books week; and an artist’s take on the war in Gaza; and David Love’s Media, Movements and Community Engagement student contributed an especially thoughtful piece about how a deluge of violent news shared over social media can desensitize viewers to violence.
We're also featuring two stories from our first faculty-led reporting trip to Spain (Regina Marchi and Mary D' Ambrosio took students to Barcelona, San Sebastian and Guernica over spring break): about the architect Gaudi’s influence in modern Barcelona, and about how to relax, the Spanish way.
Heartfelt thanks to all colleagues who prepared and shared their students’ work, and to the JMS editorial board, of Amy Jordan, David Greenberg, David Love, Regina Marchi and Todd Wolfson, for guiding these stories, and ideas.
And a BIG thank you to JMS and SC&I for their essential support of this magazine.
