The school tracks research activities of our doctoral students during each academic year.

Degree Learning Goals and Assessment

Goal is to educate students at an advanced level to obtain multi-disciplinary training that provides a broad understanding of the fields of communication, library and information science, journalism and media studies, while obtaining specialized knowledge

Graduate Certificate in Media Studies

The Certificate Program in Media Studies allows students enrolled in other Rutgers University Ph.D. programs to earn a Certificate in Media Studies.

Ph.D. Media Studies Concentration

The Media Studies area of the Ph.D. program is run by the faculty of the department of Journalism and Media Studies.

Ph.D. LIS Concentration

The Library and Information Science (LIS) area of concentration (also known as iSchool) in our interdisciplinary Ph.D. provides an excellent environment for research.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Application deadlines for the fall term are January 5 of each year, with late applications to be considered at a May 1 deadline. Students requesting financial aid, must apply by January 5.
